RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) is expected to rise in Tuesday’s trading at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), following a slight decline the previous day. On Monday, August 3, 2026, the index fluctuated before closing down 0.03 percent at 6,234.50.

Foreign investors continued selling shares with a net sell of IDR 758.71 billion, targeting stocks such as TPIA, AMMN, BMRI, BBRI, and ASII.

“IHSG today has the potential to rebound and test resistance at 6,250–6,300,” said analysts at Phintraco Sekuritas on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Market sentiment remains influenced by the release of key economic data earlier this week.

Indonesia’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) improved to 50.2 in July, returning to expansion after contracting at 46.9 in June. “This marks the highest level since February 2026. Output rose after four consecutive months of decline, though the increase was modest,” Phintraco noted.

The June trade balance recorded a deficit of USD 450 million, narrower than May’s USD 1.61 billion. Exports grew 8.84 percent year‑on‑year, up from 5.73 percent in May, while imports surged 34.27 percent compared with 22.16 percent previously.

Inflation slowed to 2.88 percent in July from 3.34 percent in June, driven by a 0.14 percent deflation due to harvest season lowering food, beverage, and tobacco prices. Non‑subsidized fuel price cuts in August are also expected to ease inflation further.

Global factors remain in focus. Falling oil prices boosted U.S. equities, alongside gains in artificial intelligence stocks. Investors are now awaiting U.S. labor market data, seen as a key indicator for Federal Reserve monetary policy. (Gusti Panji)
