RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) decided to maintain its monetary policy stance in July 2026 amid global economic uncertainty. The move aimed to stabilize the rupiah exchange rate while keeping inflation under control in line with the target.

At its monthly Board of Governors’ Meeting (RDG) held on July 21–22, BI kept the benchmark interest rate (BI‑Rate) at 5.75 percent. The Deposit Facility and Lending Facility rates were also maintained at 4.75 percent and 6.50 percent, respectively.

“BI is expanding incentive policies and several other measures to increase foreign portfolio investment inflows, strengthen rupiah stability, accelerate the deepening of the money and foreign exchange markets (PUVA), and improve liquidity while addressing segmentation in the money and banking markets,” BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said during an online press conference on the RDG results in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Perry explained that the decision to maintain the BI‑Rate, along with supporting measures, is part of BI’s integrated policy mix. These policies are designed to reinforce the resilience of the national financial sector amid persistent global uncertainty.

He added that the measure also aims to stabilize the rupiah and ensure inflation in 2026 and 2027 remains within the government’s target of 2.5±1 percent. These efforts are expected to support macroeconomic stability and sustain market confidence in the Indonesian economy. **
