RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A multinational conglomerate, Lippo Group, has donated 30 hectares of its land in Bekasi Regency, West Java, to the Indonesian government to support the "3 Million Homes" program for low-income communities. The donation was presented symbolically in Jakarta on Monday, June 29, 2026, by its subsidiary, Lippo Cikarang.

Indonesia's Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, welcomed the donation. He expressed hope that it would reflect one of the core principles of Indonesia's national ideology, social justice.

"We are grateful today that the private sector, through Lippo, has donated land to the state. We hope this will serve as an example for others to follow," Sirait said.

"Hopefully, this is not the first and the last, but rather a good beginning that embodies the fifth principle of our national ideology: social justice for all Indonesians, through mutual cooperation," he continued.

Lippo Group is a conglomerate based in Indonesia and Hong Kong, China, with businesses spanning real estate, retail, education, and financial services. One of its flagship developments is Meikarta, a planned township in Bekasi Regency covering more than 84 hectares, 35 percent of which was donated to the government on Monday.

Lippo Group founder Mochtar Riady said he feels it is necessary to help support Indonesia's economy amid current global issues, including by increasing the availability of housing for the public. He pointed to the widening gap in prosperity seen in many parts of the world—including Indonesia—as a reason for doing so.

"That is why I am very pleased that President Prabowo is paying attention to the housing sector as part of efforts to improve and further develop Indonesia's economic growth," he said.

Mochtar expressed hope that other major Indonesian business leaders would follow Lippo Group's example by contributing to the nation. He added that the donation was an initiative of his son, James Riady, who serves as chairman of Lippo Group.

"I am very happy and grateful because I have a son who understands the interests of the nation. James doesn't only talk about making profits or pursuing profits; he also cares deeply about the condition of our country," he said, with James standing beside him.
