RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that Indonesia had 26.12 million capital market investors as of April 24, 2026, with more than 54 percent under the age of 30. Most are engaged in the investment management industry, with mutual funds remaining the primary choice, particularly for beginners.

OJK’s Executive Director for Capital Market Supervision, Hasan Fawzi, emphasized that this trend must be accompanied by stronger financial literacy so investors understand risks and asset management. “Given that the funds invested are assets that must be managed with the highest integrity,” he said at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) office in Jakarta on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Alongside the rise in investor activity, the investment management industry has also posted positive performance. Net asset value reached IDR 710.29 trillion (approximately USD 41.24 billion), up 5.18 percent year-on-year.

To encourage participation and foster long-term investment habits, OJK launched the Planned and Regular Investment (PINTAR) Mutual Fund Program. The authority also stressed the importance of strengthening the ecosystem and investor protection to ensure a healthy and sustainable market as investor numbers grow.

Chair of the Presidium of the Indonesian Mutual Fund and Investment Practitioners Association, Lolita Liliana, highlighted the dominance of young investors under 30, who account for more than half of the total. “This presents both an opportunity and a challenge for building a sustainable investment culture,” she said.

She added that education and product innovation are key to attracting younger generations. With these efforts, investor growth can be accompanied by a stronger and healthier market. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
