RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto began his official agenda in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, by attending the “Business Summit in Honor of H.E. Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia.” The summit was held ahead of the signing ceremony for a reciprocal trade agreement (ART), one of the main items on the President’s visit to the United States.

President Prabowo arrived at the US Chamber of Commerce building at 4:49 p.m. local time to meet with the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC), the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), and the US-Indonesia Society (USINDO).

Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Chairman Anindya Bakrie noted that bilateral trade between the two countries has reached USD 45 billion.

"The goal of this ART agreement is to make trade more balanced. It will provide many opportunities for Indonesian exporters, especially in footwear, textiles, garments, and electronics, as well as for American entrepreneurs in cotton, wheat, and soybeans,” he said before the meeting, as quoted by Antara.

He added that the meeting also explored potential investment opportunities in Indonesia. “We are here to think about what investments can be brought to Indonesia because investment will be very meaningful for increasing employment opportunities and taking advantage of the current momentum,” Anindya said.

Anindya emphasized that the US organizations involved in the summit are long-standing partners of Kadin Indonesia. “All of these are cooperation partners of Kadin. In May 2025, we signed a cooperation document with the US Chamber, the US-ASEAN Business Council, and we also have long-standing ties with USINDO,” he said.

President Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Danantara CIO Pandu Sjahrir, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo.

Business leaders attending included state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri, gold and copper miner PT Freeport Indonesia President Director Tony Wenas, and US-based Freeport-McMoRan Chairman Richard C. Adkerson.

President Prabowo and US President Donald Trump are scheduled to sign the reciprocal trade agreement during their bilateral meeting in Washington, D.C. The document will include provisions on tariffs. ***
