RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI) is preparing to launch the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2026, positioning the event as a strategic platform to boost global promotion and competitiveness of national furniture and handicraft products.

Scheduled for March 5 to 8, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in Tangerang, Banten, the expo will feature more than 5,000 premium products from over 500 exhibitors.

HIMKI Chairman Abdul Sobur emphasized that the exhibition serves as a vital bridge between domestic talent and international demand.

“IFEX is the Indonesian furniture industry’s primary window to the global market. This exhibition was born out of the industry’s own need to improve product quality, strengthen design, and ensure compliance with international standards,” Sobur said in Jakarta on Thursday, February 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The exhibition aims to open significant cross-border business opportunities, reinforcing Indonesia’s position as a premier world-class producer. Sobur noted that the industry is undergoing a visible transformation marked by superior craftsmanship, innovative design, and readiness to meet rigorous international market demands.

He highlighted the shift toward high-value-added products as a defining trait of the sector, with design acting as the primary strategic differentiator in a competitive global market.

By integrating aesthetics with economic value, IFEX 2026 intends to provide participants with more than a transactional platform. Sobur said the expo will offer stakeholders insights into future design directions, emerging market trends, and evolving quality standards.

He reiterated that IFEX strengthens the national industrial structure and supports sustainable export growth.

This drive for global excellence is supported by strong economic data. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that the fashion and craft subsectors remain dominant pillars of the creative economy.

From January to November 2025, combined export value reached USD 28.4 billion (approximately IDR 476.3 trillion). The fashion subsector contributed USD 16.37 billion, while the craft and furniture subsector accounted for USD 12.03 billion, underscoring the importance of platforms such as IFEX in maintaining this upward momentum. ***
