RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - For Tri Damayanti and her husband, crafting a blangkon (traditional Javanese headgear) is more than an artistic trade, it is a vital family livelihood and a commitment to preserving Javanese cultural heritage amidst shifting times.
Operating out of their home workshop in Pracimantoro, Central Java, the couple faced persistent challenges in securing raw materials, reaching wider markets, and ensuring their traditional craft retained its economic viability.
Their business gained strategic momentum after joining state-owned ultra-micro lender PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) as a client in 2023. Beyond receiving working capital financing to procure raw materials, Tri benefited from PNM's business empowerment and digital marketing training programs, allowing her to promote her handcrafted blangkon via social media platforms.
"Through these programs, I can now market products via social media, allowing my goods to become more widely recognized," said Tri on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
PNM President Director Kindaris emphasized that empowering ultra-micro entrepreneurs requires a dual approach combining financial access with structured capacity building.
"Opening access is not just about providing financing. We want to create opportunities so every client can learn, develop their business, and gain confidence in their potential, that is why financing and empowerment are provided side by side, ensuring that businesses do not merely survive, but have the space to continuously grow," said Kindaris on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Through digital marketing and continuous financial support, the traditional craft from Pracimantoro continues to find new customers among younger generations, demonstrating how empowering ultra-micro enterprises helps sustain local culture while strengthening family economies. ***
