RRI.CO.ID, Gianjar - Gianyar Regency’s Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) in Bali is showcasing innovations that integrate endek fabric into modern lifestyle products at Kriyanusa 2026 which takes place from September 26 to 30, 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). Applying traditional wastra (traditional textiles) motifs to functional items, ranging from sandals to casual wear, represents a strategic move by local artisans to reach broader markets.
Kriyanusa 2026 features a diverse program blending craft and wastra exhibitions with creativity and technology, including the Nusantara Craft Exhibition, Workshop Stage, Digital Immersive Experience, Fashion DNA, Wastra Holo, Digital Batik, Fashion Show, Talk Show, and Mini Workshop. The exhibition involves hundreds of participants operating a total of 410 booths.
At the exhibition, Dekranasda Gianyar is presenting craft products from three local businesses, which are Krishna Shoes, Wira’s Silver, and Srisedana Tenun.
Krishna Shoes feature sandals that incorporate endek fabric as decorative motifs, reflecting efforts to develop endek into functional products aligned with contemporary needs and lifestyles.
“My hope in participating in Kriyanusa is that our endek-motif sandals will become increasingly known outside the region,” said Krishna Shoes entrepreneur, Ni Luh Putu Krisna Udayani on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Wira’s Silver is displaying handmade silver craft products that emphasize skill and precision in their production. The showcased items highlight the character of silver craftsmanship that blends artisanal skill with aesthetic value.
Meanwhile, Srisedana Tenun is presenting ikat woven fabrics featuring airbrush dyeing techniques and motifs distinctive to Gianyar. These products demonstrate creativity in developing weaving techniques and motifs without abandoning the local identity that forms part of Gianyar wastra’s strength.
Representing Gianyar Regency’s Dekranasda, Diana Dewi Agung Mayun, conveyed that participation in Kriyanusa represents a strategic momentum for the region. The opportunity is being leveraged to introduce the diversity and quality of local craft products to a wider audience.
“Through Kriyanusa 2026, we want to show that Gianyar’s crafts and wastra have the potential to continue developing and gain wider recognition. Artisans’ creativity must be continually encouraged to produce products that remain rooted in local culture while adapting to current tastes and societal needs,” said Diana.
In addition to the exhibition, Diana also participated in the Regional Attire Parade for Regency and City Dekranasda chairs in the Main Stage of Hall B at JICC on Monday. She appeared wearing endek wastra styled in a casual concept, blending traditional fabric characteristics with more modern and practical fashion.
The parade program was attended by chairs or deputy chairs of participating regency/city Dekranasda at Kriyanusa. Gianyar Dekranasda’s involvement in Kriyanusa 2026 forms part of broader efforts to expand promotional opportunities for regional craft entrepreneurs while introducing Gianyar’s wastra and craft richness to audiences from various regions.
Through the exhibition and its various programs, local craft products gain the opportunity to be displayed, recognized, and reach wider markets. (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
