RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Gorontalo’s Karawo embroidery has emerged as a standout attraction at Kriyanusa 2026, the nation’s largest handicraft exhibition, held at Hall B of the Jakarta International Convention Center (JCC). The traditional Gorontalo textile drew significant visitor interest, with its history and intricate production techniques captivating attendees.
“The Karawo embroidery from Gorontalo was indeed striking at the exhibition’s opening; its color combinations are truly captivating,” said the Chairperson of the Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) of Gorontalo Province, Nani Mokodongan, on Monday, September 28, 2026.
Leading the Gorontalo provincial delegation, Nani expressed pride that the works of local Gorontalo textile artisans became one of the focal points during the opening ceremony. She emphasized leveraging the exhibition to its fullest potential to forge partnerships with various stakeholders.
Nani noted that the exhibition attracted a diverse audience, making it a highly strategic venue for introducing and marketing Gorontalo’s craft products, not limited to Karawo alone.
The presence of regional leaders underscored a strong commitment to supporting local Gorontalo artisans, particularly those specializing in traditional Karawo fabric and distinctive embroidery. This support helps them elevate their craft, expand market networks, and reach international audiences.
Kriyanusa 2026, running from September 26 to 30, 2026, is centered on the theme Create Sustainable Craft, Artisans Go Global.
“We hope Kriyanusa 2026 becomes a strategic momentum for revitalizing the regional creative economy through innovative, sustainable, and globally standardized craftworks,” said Nani, as quoted by infopublik.id.
This commitment by Gorontalo’s Dekranasda reflects a broader dedication to advancing the craft industry to be globally competitive and environmentally conscious.
The prestigious event has been enthusiastically joined by representatives from all provinces, regencies, and cities across Indonesia, showcasing a rich tapestry of cultural heritage and the finest local product innovations from Sabang to Merauke. ***
