Maluku Promotes Traditional Crafts and Cuisine at Discover Nusantara 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Ambon - The Maluku Regional National Handicraft Council (Dekranasda) has showcased its signature arts, culture, traditional handicrafts, and processed local food products at the Discover Nusantara 2026 exhibition in Jakarta to expand market access for regional micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Running for 28 days at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta as part of celebrations for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, the event involves 24 provinces in collaboration with the Communication Forum of Indonesian Provincial Administration Liaison Offices. The Maluku exhibition booth highlights cultural identity and economic potential through traditional Maluku woven textiles (wastra), cultural handicrafts, woven fashion wear, and processed local food staples, specifically sago and cassava packaged hygienically for modern culinary markets.

To complement the exhibition, the Maluku Pavilion at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) or Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park will host a special live performance blending traditional Maluku music on August 15, 2026, aimed at boosting regional tourism and investment opportunities.

Regional officials and organizational leaders affirmed that cross-sectoral collaboration between local administrations, liaison offices, and private hospitality partners is essential for raising the national and international competitiveness of regional creative economies.

Chairperson of Maluku Dekranasda Maya Beby Lewerissa emphasized the strategic value of the event in elevating local products into broader commercial markets.

"The staging of Discover Nusantara 2026 serves as an extraordinary platform for Maluku Province to introduce and promote various flagship MSME products, woven fashion wear, to diverse local specialty food products packaged hygienically and practically, our hope is that such collaboration between local administrations and the private sector can continue sustainably to drive the competitiveness of Maluku's MSME products at national and international levels," Maya said in Ambon on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Head of the Maluku Provincial Liaison Office in Jakarta Saiful Indra Patta highlighted the multi-agency coordination behind the initiative. "The importance of collaborating broadly to bring forth Maluku's flagship craft and MSME products enables them to penetrate wider markets," Saiful noted. ***
