RRI.CO.ID, Klaten - A young Indonesian farmer created rice field art celebrating Klaten Regency's 222nd Anniversary in Klaten on Monday, July 27, 2026. The artwork reflected local pride while promoting agriculture through creative land cultivation.

Prihatnyo Ruli Hermawan from Juwiring Village chose a unique celebration for the anniversary. He transformed his rice field into a giant artwork carrying a meaningful cultural message.

The artwork features Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo and the anniversary theme "Together Creating Prosperity and Well-Being." The design uses rice plants instead of conventional painting materials.

Ruli created the artwork by planting Black Madras rice beside Cibatu rice. The Indian rice variety naturally produces dark purple leaves, creating visual contrast with green rice.

He explained both varieties were selected because they share the same growing period. Each requires about 100 days from seeding until harvest.

Ruli also explained why he chose the young regent as the artwork's central figure. He said the artwork carries a message encouraging more young people to enter agriculture.

"Mr. Hamenang is a young leader who inspires many people. We hope more young people will manage rice fields. From rice fields, we can do many things, including creating content or becoming farmers while also working as content creators," he said.

Ruli also expressed hopes for Klaten's agricultural future during the anniversary celebration. He encouraged stronger youth participation in Indonesia's farming sector.

"Hopefully, more young farmers in Klaten will help advance the agricultural industry in Klaten," he said.
