RRI.CO.ID, Klaten - Klaten Lurik Night Carnival 2026 highlighted Indonesia's traditional lurik heritage in Klaten on Monday, July 27, 2026. The annual event celebrated Klaten's 222nd anniversary through creative fashion inspired by the region's iconic woven fabric.

Carrying the theme "Lurik Gains Greater Global Recognition," the carnival offered more than a fashion showcase. It also demonstrated the growing creative economic value of Klaten's traditional lurik textile.

A total of 20 contingents participated in the carnival. They represented art studios, universities, village-owned enterprises, state-owned companies, private businesses, and community organizations.

Each contingent presented unique themes, stories, and performances using lurik creations. Their displays reflected innovation while preserving one of Indonesia's valuable cultural heritages.

The parade also passed along Jalan Pemuda from Klatos intersection to the Klaten Military District Command. Thousands of residents enthusiastically welcomed the colorful procession throughout the route.

Regent of Klaten, Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, appreciated every participant and supporting contingent. He said the carnival also promotes Klaten's traditional lurik to wider national and international audiences.

Hamenang expressed hope the event would continue strengthening Indonesia's cultural promotion abroad. He also expected future editions to become even more remarkable.

"This event promotes lurik so it becomes increasingly recognized worldwide. Hopefully, Klaten Lurik Night Carnival will become even more extraordinary in the future," he said.

The Indonesian local government continues encouraging cultural events supporting creative industries and heritage preservation. Klaten Lurik Night Carnival reflects Indonesia's commitment to promoting traditional culture through contemporary public celebrations.
