RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Nestled among the lush green mountains of Central Sulawesi lies a lake that has been part of local life for thousands of years. Lake Lindu, located within the Lore Lindu National Park, is once again drawing attention as it prepares to host Festival Danau Lindu or the Lake Lindu Festival 2026, which will take place from July 23 to 25 in Sigi Regency.

According to the official website of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government, the Lake Lindu Festival is one of three festivals from the province selected for the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2026, an annual program curated by Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism. The program recognizes outstanding regional festivals that showcase cultural authenticity, tourism appeal, and positive contributions to local communities.

Carrying the theme "Celebrating the Heritage of Civilization," the festival highlights the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous Lindu community, whose traditions have long coexisted with the surrounding natural environment. Through traditional rituals, cultural performances, and local customs, the festival aims to preserve these living traditions while introducing Central Sulawesi's unique identity to visitors.

Beyond its cultural attractions, the Lake Lindu Festival also invites visitors to explore the breathtaking landscape of the Lore Lindu area through activities held across four villages: Puroo, Langko, Tomado, and Anca. Each village offers its own distinctive experience, ranging from coffee tourism and traditional performances to customary welcoming ceremonies and local culinary specialties.

What sets the festival apart is its combination of ecotourism, cultural tourism, and agrotourism. Rather than simply watching performances, visitors have the opportunity to engage with the daily lives of the local community, whose traditions and close relationship with nature have been preserved for generations.

Ahead of the festival, a coalition of nature-loving communities will organize the Challenge Cross Country Pakarosso 2026 from July 21 to 23. Serving as a pre-festival event, the cross-country adventure will take participants along scenic routes leading to the Lindu area while showcasing the natural beauty of Sigi Regency.

The Challenge Cross Country Pakarosso is open to a wide range of participants, including outdoor enthusiast groups, youth organizations, and members of the public from across Indonesia. In addition to promoting adventure tourism, the event is expected to strengthen community bonds and encourage greater awareness of environmental conservation.

Blending pristine landscapes, indigenous traditions, and community-based tourism, the Lake Lindu Festival offers visitors a meaningful travel experience while showcasing another side of Central Sulawesi's rich natural and cultural heritage.
