RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Institute for Islamic Arts, Culture, and Civilization (LSBPI) of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will hold the Maestro Summit, the National Deliberation of Muslim Artists and Cultural Figures, and the National Coordination Meeting of LSBPI MUI. It will be held on July 18–19, 2026, at Daarul Qolam Modern Islamic Boarding School in Gintung, Banten.

Chairman of MUI's Cultural Affairs Division and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of LSBPI MUI, Habiburrahman El Shirazy, said that the event is one of the institution's priority programs this month, aimed at bringing together artists, cultural figures, and maestros from across Indonesia.

"This event will be organized as part of the pre-Congress activities of the Indonesian Muslim Congress. It will not only serve as a deliberation among prominent figures but will also include the National Coordination Meeting of LSBPI MUI from across Indonesia and the Maestro Summit, a gathering of maestros, artists, and cultural figures," he said in Jakarta on Thursday, July 16, 2026, as quoted by mui.or.id.

However, he affirmed that art has two sides. It can serve as a means of building character and civilization, but it can also become a destructive medium when used to spread values that contradict morality and religious teachings.

"Good art nurtures the soul and enriches the mind. But art can also be harmful when it showcases negative things and promotes immoral values," he underscored.

Addressing young people involved in the arts, Habiburrahman urged them to continue developing their creativity while upholding religious values, morality, and decency.

"Continue to develop your creativity and produce beautiful works of art. But never lose sight of values. Do not let the art you create contradict the principles of decency, morality, or religious teachings. Let art become a means of conveying goodness and truth, and for Muslims, a medium of dakwah (Islamic preaching)," he conveyed.

He further explained that the National Coordination Meeting and the Maestro Summit will also discuss the future direction of Indonesia's cultural development with the aim of fostering artistic works that contribute to civilization. In addition, the forum will address various cultural challenges, including strategies for dakwah through art and culture, as well as contemporary socio-cultural issues.

The event is part of the series of activities leading up to the Indonesian Muslim Congress.
