RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture has signed a memorandum of understanding with Danantara Indonesia Trust regarding the revitalization of the National Museum of Indonesia as part of efforts to strengthen the museum’s role as a center for cultural literacy and public education. The agreement was signed by the Ministry’s Museum and Cultural Heritage division and Danantara Indonesia Trust at Wisma Danantara Indonesia in Jakarta on Sunday, during the launch of Danantara Indonesia Trust’s strategic partnerships in the fields of health, education, and culture-based learning.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, said cross-sector collaboration is an important step in advancing national culture, including through the revitalization of the National Museum of Indonesia.

“Since the establishment of the Ministry of Culture as a standalone ministry, we have also formed the Museum and Cultural Heritage Advisory Board as part of efforts to involve more stakeholders, especially from the private sector, in advancing national culture together,” Fadli said in a statement received in Jakarta on May 26, 2026.

According to him, Indonesia possesses vast and diverse cultural wealth that has the potential to become the foundation of the country’s future cultural economy and industry. However, he noted that such potential requires strong support and collaboration among the government, businesses, philanthropic institutions, and society.

Fadli expressed hope that the presence of Danantara Indonesia Trust would encourage more philanthropic organizations to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s cultural sector.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of Danantara Indonesia Trust, Nuraini Razak, said the collaboration with the Museum and Cultural Heritage division aims to strengthen public access to cultural knowledge and open learning spaces for the community.

“Together with the Museum and Cultural Heritage division, we have initiated collaboration to strengthen public access to cultural arts knowledge and more open learning spaces for the community,” Nuraini said.

The cooperation includes the development of the National Museum’s library facilities as a center for cultural knowledge and research, as well as the revitalization of museum areas affected by the fire so they can once again function optimally as public cultural spaces.

Chief Executive Officer of Danantara and Patron of Danantara Indonesia Trust Rosan Roeslani said all Danantara Indonesia Trust programs are aimed at creating sustainable social impact for the Indonesian people. According to him, since its establishment in October 2025, the trust has focused on three main sectors: education including culture, health, and sanitation.

“We want to create a significant impact in sectors that we believe are truly needed and can become priorities for our future programs,” Rosan said.
