RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo – Hardcore group from Bandung, Taring, successfully shook Japan’s underground music scene through their tour titled Taring Nippon Onslaught 2026, held from April 17–22, 2026. During the tour, Taring performed in several cities: April 17–18 at Festival Gekiko in Wildside Tokyo, April 19 at Studio 246 Nagoya for The Resistance Lives On Vol.1, and April 22 at Pit Bar, Tokyo.

Throughout the tour, Taring performed around 11 songs, most of which were taken from their latest album, Megatruh. The band’s performance was met with enthusiastic responses from audiences, both local Japanese fans and international attendees.

The intense interaction between the band and the crowd created a signature hardcore concert atmosphere, marked by continuous moshing, headbanging, wall of death, and slam dancing.

Taring’s vocalist, Hardi Rosady, said that the high enthusiasm of Japanese audiences shows that music can serve as a universal language. “I saw that the enthusiasm of Japanese audiences was extraordinary. Most of our lyrics are in Indonesian, but this proves that music can be enjoyed without understanding the language,” Hardi said.

He added that during the tour, Taring also collaborated with Japanese musicians, including Tomoki Nakagawa from grindcore band Kandarivas, as well as Richie during their performance in Nagoya. As a tribute, Taring also performed the song “Akselerasi Maksimum” by Seringai at each show.

Meanwhile, Taring’s drummer, Ujang Rahmat, also known as Gebeg, said that networking with international musicians played a key role in the tour’s success. “The strength of friendships among musicians from different countries is very strong. We have built many connections since previous tours, including in Japan and Europe,” Gebeg conveyed.

He also mentioned that the band carried out the tour independently without relying much on government support, including by selling merchandise to support their needs during the tour. At their concert in Pit Bar Tokyo, Taring performed alongside Japanese opening bands Skeleton Bones and Blood Prophecy, both known in the local hardcore scene.

Hardi added that performing abroad requires preparation, both mentally, in dealing with language differences, and adapting to environmental conditions. “Things like weather and the logistics of carrying equipment are challenges. In Japan, we even had to use trains while bringing our gear,” he said.

Taring’s performances also received appreciation from the Indonesian diaspora in Japan. One audience member, Pepi, expressed pride in seeing an Indonesian band perform on an international stage. “I’m proud as an Indonesian to see Taring perform in Tokyo and represent Indonesia. Their music is well received here,” Pepi said.

Previously, Taring had also performed in Japan in 2019 at the Everloud Festival alongside several other Indonesian bands.
