RRI.CO.ID, Lebak - The Seba Badui traditional celebration will be held from April 24 to 26, 2026, serving both as a sacred ritual and a growing cultural tourism attraction in Lebak Regency, Banten. Practiced by the Inner and Outer Badui communities, the tradition is also seen as an opportunity to strengthen the regional tourism sector.

“The Seba Badui celebration will take place from April 24 to 26, 2026,” said Jaro Oom, a traditional elder and head of Kanekes Village, in Rangkasbitung Subdistrict, Lebak, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The Seba ritual is an annual expression of gratitude from the Badui community for the harvest. It involves a journey to the regent and governor to present agricultural produce, symbolizing the relationship between the indigenous community, the regional administration, and the security forces safeguarding the Mount Kendeng area.

Currently, Badui communities spread across 68 villages are registering to attend the 2026 Seba celebration. “After completing the Kawalu tradition, a Seba is held to strengthen ties with the local leader. We hope the 2026 Seba celebration will run smoothly,” said Jaro.

The Head of the Lebak Regency Culture and Tourism Agency, Yosep M. Holis, said his office is targeting 46,000 visitors for the Seba celebration. Supporting activities will include MSME exhibitions, creative economy bazaars, and traditional arts performances.

Indigenous participation remains central, with about 1,500 Badui residents from dozens of villages expected to join the procession. They will bring agricultural products such as rice, bananas, brown sugar, and taro to offer.

The Seba ceremony follows the Kawalu ritual, a sacred period for the Badui community. Afterward, Seba becomes an open event that allows broader interaction with the outside community, including tourists.

This annual tradition continues to be preserved as cultural heritage while also being developed as a driver of the local economy. ***
