Various Activities Enliven the 271st Anniversary of Yogyakarta Special Region

RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta – The Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta has organized a series of activities to commemorate the region’s 271st anniversary. The events run from February to April 2026 and involve participation from the public as well as civil servants.
Chairperson of the 271st Anniversary Committee and Assistant to the Regional Secretary for General Administration, Srie Nurkyatsiwie, stated that a variety of programs have been prepared to celebrate the regional anniversary. The activities are also intended to strengthen community solidarity in preserving Yogyakarta’s special status.
Among the events held are a logo design competition for the anniversary, pilgrimage visits to historical sites, and the official launch of the anniversary logo. In addition, there are choir competitions for the Regional Government March, line dance competitions, and traditional Yogyakarta costume contests.
The regional government has also initiated a tree-planting movement in every kalurahan (village) as part of environmental conservation efforts. This initiative is expected to encourage greater public awareness of protecting the natural environment in Yogyakarta.
Community participation is further strengthened through various creative activities such as content creation competitions and book donation drives for community reading parks through the Jogja Berkirim Cerita program. Additionally, a local product discount campaign titled Jogja Local Deals 271 has been launched to support regional businesses.
Furthermore, the regional government is organizing several capacity-building programs for civil servants in the field of digital creativity. These programs are expected to foster innovation in public services within the Yogyakarta regional administration.
The peak of the 271st anniversary celebration will be marked by a ceremonial event on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Mandala Krida Stadium. The ceremony symbolizes Yogyakarta’s long journey in preserving its cultural values while continuing to develop into a progressive and sustainable region.
