RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: Jakarta is again drawing global attention, not only from filmmakers but also international K-Pop fans. BLACKPINK member Lisa is filming the action movie Extraction: Tygo across Jakarta and Tangerang.

The production places Indonesia in the global entertainment spotlight. Lisa’s presence in Indonesia is linked to filming scheduled from 28 January to 7 February 2026. Shooting takes place within Metro Jaya Police jurisdictions across Jakarta, surrounding areas and several key urban locations are used for the production.

Metro Jaya Police spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said filming covers areas including Kota Tua and Muara Baru. Other locations include Cikini, Bekasi, and Depok.

The sites were selected for their strategic and cinematic value. Several roads experienced temporary closures during filming, including KS Tubun Road in Karawaci, Tangerang.

In West Jakarta, closures affected Pinangsia areas such as Kunir, Cengkeh, and Teh streets. Authorities said affected micro and small vendors received compensation during the closures.

Beyond the production itself, the filming aligns with Jakarta’s broader ambition to grow as a regional film hub. The city government is preparing long-term infrastructure to support international productions.

This vision positions Jakarta as a competitive cinema destination. The Jakarta Provincial Government has pledged support through the planned Jakarta Film Commission.

The initiative was highlighted at the Jakarta Future Festival at Taman Ismail Marzuki on July 15, 2025. The commission is designed as a one-stop service for film production.

“God willing, in 2027 Jakarta will establish the Jakarta Film Commission in all its aspects, and hopefully we will be able to host an international film festival,” he said.

The Jakarta Film Commission will offer location databases, licensing support, and access to local creative talent. Jakarta has previously hosted international films such as After the Dark and Blackhat. These productions reinforce Indonesia’s growing role in the global film industry.
