RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A comprehensive recovery effort is underway in Dusun Sade, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, following a destructive fire that struck the traditional Sasak village on August 22, 2026.

Beyond physical rebuilding, the Ministry of Tourism has funneled IDR 1 billion (USD 55.7) in targeted aid to revive local livelihoods and accelerate community-led economic recovery. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana emphasized that rebuilding the iconic cultural village requires a synchronized strategy addressing both infrastructure and local economy.

"Physical structures in Sade are being rebuilt through strong community cooperation. But simultaneously, the local economy must keep moving, our aid is directed primarily toward helping residents return to work, resume production, and earn income," she said in an official statement received on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The economic package provides IDR 817.5 million directly for local business revival, including 15 traditional gedogan weaving looms, working capital grants for 69 MSMEs, 70 sets of weaving raw materials, and 43 non-weaving craft tool sets. The remaining funds support local guide safety training, digital product branding, and promotional campaigns for Sade's tourism relaunch.

Physical reconstruction of the village is being carried out with enhanced disaster mitigation measures. Assistant for Economy and Development at the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Secretariat, Lalu Faozal, noted that new plans feature underground electrical wiring, upgraded sanitation, drainage systems, and accessible fire extinguishing equipment.

Local leaders, including Sade Head of Hamlet Endap and Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) Chairman Sanah Ardinata, welcomed the revival initiatives, noting that resident consensus aims to rebuild Sade into a safer, more resilient destination without compromising the authentic cultural identity and traditional architecture of the Sasak community. ***
