RRI.CO.ID, Denpasar - A Ukrainian national has gone on trial at the Denpasar Subdistrict Court for allegedly smuggling over 1.36 kilograms of gross mephedrone, a Class I narcotic, into Bali through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Public Prosecutor Ni Made Suasti Ariani read the indictment against defendant BL during a court session in Denpasar on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, revealing that the foreign national was caught with 937 capsules and a package of white powder that tested positive for mephedrone.
According to the indictment, BL arrived at the airport in Badung Regency on Thursday evening, May 21, 2026, following a flight route from Warsaw, Poland, via Doha, Qatar. Customs and Excise officers flagged Lohush at around 7.30 p.m. local time after noticing suspicious luggage passing through the checkpoint, prompting immediate coordination with the Bali Regional Police’s Narcotics Directorate.
During a detailed search of BL's white suitcase witnessed by customs officers, law enforcement seized three supplement bottles containing the illicit substances. A bottle labeled "ARG ARGININE" contained 440 capsules, a second labeled "AMIX" contained 497 capsules, and a third labeled "BIOTECHUSA" contained white powder.
"Laboratory weighing showed that the 440 capsules weighed 411.10 grams gross or 281.60 grams net, while the 497 capsules weighed 500.60 grams gross or 318.08 grams net. Meanwhile, the white powder weighed 456 grams gross or 351.96 grams net," prosecutor Suasti disclosed in court on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The total seized evidence amounted to 1,367.70 grams gross or 951.64 grams net.
BL claimed to have purchased the capsules and powder in Poland believing they were dietary supplements intended for gym and sports activities. However, official forensic examination report No. Lab 906/NNF/2026 confirmed that all tested substances were positive for mephedrone, a regulated Class I narcotic.
Prosecutors charged BL under Article 610 Paragraph (2) letter a of Law No. 1/2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law No. 1/2026 on Criminal Adjustments. ***
