Palu-Sasakawa Peace Foundation Partner on Inclusive Economic Growth

RRI.CO.ID, Palu - The Palu Municipal Administration in Central Sulawesi has partnered with Japan's Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) to accelerate inclusive economic development and boost community resilience across the disaster-recovering region.
Palu Mayor Hadianto Rasyid and representatives from SPF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Palu on Monday, September 28, in a ceremony witnessed by Bagus Rachman, Deputy for Medium Enterprises at the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
"Accelerating development cannot be done by the administration alone. We need collaboration from all parties," Hadianto said on Monday, September 28, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The agreement establishes a framework for promoting inclusive economic growth, deepening public understanding of equitable development, and bolstering Palu's long-term community resilience through sustainable joint initiatives. SPF is a Tokyo-based private nonprofit foundation that focuses on international peace building, regional cooperation, and sustainable development.
Bagus Rachman commended Palu’s recovery and development trajectory following the catastrophic 2018 earthquake and tsunami, describing the city's resilience as an inspiring model for other disaster-prone regions across Indonesia.
"I say this has become a legacy and has inspired others. This should serve as an example for other regions on how to handle disasters with strong fight and determination," Bagus said, affirming that the central government will continue supporting local policy efforts that empower MSME growth. ***
