RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has arrested a 42-year-old Malaysian national, identified by the initials LYL, for operating an illegal home industry producing liquid etomidate narcotics in South Jakarta.
Sub-directorate 3 of the Polda Metro Jaya's Directorate of Narcotics Investigation initially apprehended the suspect in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following tip-offs from local residents. Body searches yielded etomidate powder and pre-filled vape cartridges, prompting officers to expand the search to the suspect's residence nearby.
At the second location, police uncovered an active processing lab equipped with production gear, including measuring beakers, syringes, digital scales, pressing tools, flavor solvents, 131 etomidate cartridges, and 10 packages of raw etomidate powder. The suspect and evidence have been transferred to the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters for legal processing under Indonesian narcotics laws.
Head of Sub-directorate 3 of the Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Ade Candra detailed the evidence seized and the progression of the field raid.
"Officers secured LYL after receiving reports regarding suspected drug transactions in Tebet, recovering etomidate cartridges and raw powder directly from the suspect, a follow-up search at the suspect's residence exposed a fully functioning clandestine production facility containing processing tools, flavoring solvents, 131 filled cartridges, and 10 packets of etomidate powder ready for distribution," Ade Candra staid in Jakarta on Monday (August 31, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto reiterated the necessity of active public participation in maintaining community safety.
"Combating illegal narcotics is a collective responsibility, and even the smallest piece of information provided by residents is vital for law enforcement, we urge the public to remain observant of their immediate surroundings and report any suspicious activities through the 24-hour 110 call center," Budi added. ***
