RRI.CO.ID, Banjarnegara - The 2026 Dieng Coffee Festival in Banjarnegara, Central Java, has officially become a platform for exchanging coffee knowledge and flavors from across Indonesia, featuring leading products from 14 Geographical Indications spanning several islands, from Sumatra to Papua.

Supported by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, the collaboration brings together dozens of local coffee stakeholders from Banjarnegara with Indonesia’s national coffee ecosystem across the entire value chain, from upstream production to downstream markets.

The 2026 Dieng Coffee Festival is part of the 2026 Dieng Culture Festival (DCF), held in Dieng Kulon Village, Batur Subdistrict, Banjarnegara Regency, on Friday, August 28, 2026. Festival Chairperson, Alif Zein Fahmi, said the event was the result of a collaboration between the Geographical Indication Protection Society (MPIG) for Dieng Mountains Arabica Coffee and Banjarnegara Creative Economy.

“This event is intended to bring together all elements of the coffee sector, from upstream to downstream,” he said on Friday, as quoted by Antara.

He said this year’s Dieng Coffee Festival carries the theme, The Dieng Origin Mountain Coffee, to emphasize Banjarnegara coffee’s potential in terms of both flavor and product quality. The event is organized around a Dieng Coffee Showcase, featuring Robusta, Liberica, and Arabica coffees from various parts of Banjarnegara.

“The showcase is divided into the Green Bean Station, Roastery Station, Public Cupping, and Brewing Station,” he said.

In addition to coffee, the festival features a Spice Station showcasing Banjarnegara spice products and creative-economy culinary offerings, including Dawet Ayu milk coffee, which combines coffee with local flavors.

The event has received full support from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI). The support is reflected in the participation of coffee products from 14 MPIGs across Indonesia, spanning Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua.

“So, we exchange information and share different coffee flavors,” he said.

According to Alif, 35 participants from Banjarnegara submitted coffee products, representing areas from Susukan Subdistrict to Batur Subdistrict. The event also involves PT Permodalan Nasional Madani; Bank Indonesia; and partner Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Alif said he hopes the Dieng Coffee Festival will increase transactions and broaden the promotion of Banjarnegara coffee during DCF 2026.

Meanwhile, Head of Bank Indonesia’s Purwokerto Representative Office, Aswin Gantina, said the central bank collaborated with the DCF committee because coffee is one of Banjarnegara’s leading commodities. “Bank Indonesia also supports coffee producers in this area, so we want to introduce Banjarnegara’s superior coffee products,” he said.

Bank Indonesia is also encouraging the improvement of human resources through the Serayu Petal Cup manual-brewing competition, which was joined by around 12 participants. He said Bank Indonesia is committed to supporting coffee development from the upstream to downstream sectors, including through efforts to enhance human-resource capacity.

According to Aswin, a barista from Banjarnegara previously won second place in the audience-favorite category at a national barista competition and placed among the top seven out of 24 participants. “This proves that Banjarnegara also has human resources of national quality,” said Aswin. ***
