RRI.COLID, Tanjungpinang - The Tanjungpinang Central Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) in Riau Islands deported two foreign nationals from Palestine and Nigeria on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, for violating immigration regulations and stay permit conditions.

The deportations were executed through the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Immigration Checkpoint in Tangerang, Banten, following temporary detentions in Tanjungpinang. Officials confirmed that the Palestinian national violated Article 78, Paragraph (3) of Law No. 6/2011 on Immigration by remaining in Indonesia past the expiration date of their stay permit.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian national was deported under Article 71, Letter (b) of the same law after failing to present valid travel documents and stay permits to immigration officers upon inspection.

Immigration center heads emphasized that firm, humane enforcement of immigration regulations is necessary to uphold national sovereignty and maintain order regarding foreign residents.

Head of Placement, Security, Repatriation, and Deportation at the Tanjungpinang Rudenim I Wayan Putu Wiadnya confirmed that all procedural protocols were completed prior to departure.

"Deportation is part of administrative immigration action taken against foreign nationals who violate regulations, we repatriate them and ensure the entire process is conducted professionally, orderly, safely, and accountably," I Wayan Putu Wiadnya stated in Tanjungpinang on Thursday, August 20, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Head of the Tanjungpinang Rudenim Erybowo Radyan Asmono reaffirmed that foreign visitors must strictly adhere to national laws.

"Immigration law enforcement is an important part of safeguarding state sovereignty, yet it must be executed firmly, professionally, and by prioritizing humane principles, this deportation is part of our commitment to maintaining order regarding the presence of foreign nationals in Indonesia," Erybowo noted. ***
