UAE Offers Investment for Bulango Ulu Dam Project

RRI.CO.ID, Bone Bolango - United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Aldhaheri, has expressed readiness to collaborate on adding value to the Bulango Ulu Dam in Gorontalo through UAE enterprises operating in Indonesia, notably clean energy powerhouse Masdar.
“We have visited and seen firsthand the construction of this dam. I am amazed and pleased to see the progress of the work. To provide added value for Gorontalo, we will collaborate through UAE companies, one of which is Masdar, to be able to contribute to this project,” Abdulla said during a visit to the Bulango Ulu dam construction site on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as quoted by Infopublik.id.
An Abu Dhabi-owned renewable energy enterprise, Masdar, focuses heavily on the development of clean energy, solar power, wind energy, and green hydrogen across more than 40 countries.
The Bulango Ulu Dam boasts a massive water storage capacity of 93.549 million cubic meters and a planned inundation area of 549.11 hectares. Once operational, the strategic infrastructure will serve as a clean water source for approximately 880,000 residents, harbor potential as an 80-megawatt power plant, supply irrigation for 5,000 hectares of rice fields, and double as a regional tourist destination.
The inspection marked the second day of Ambassador Abdulla’s official visit to Gorontalo to evaluate the progress of the dam in Bone Bolango Regency. Designated as one of Indonesia's National Strategic Projects (PSN) in the region, the construction of the Bulango Ulu Dam began back in 2019.
During the visit, the UAE Ambassador was accompanied by Gorontalo Provincial Regional Secretary Sofian Ibrahim, Head of Bappeda Wahyudin Katili, and Head of the PUPR Office Aries Ardianto. The delegation was formally welcomed by Ali Rahmat, Head of the Sulawesi II River Basin Organization in Gorontalo. ***
