RRI.CO.ID, Serang - The Banten Provincial Administration has stepped in to coordinate the safe return of an Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) from Serang City who posted a viral video appeal seeking assistance after becoming stranded in Saudi Arabia.
Following the circulation of the video, Banten Governor Andra Soni convened an emergency coordination meeting with the Banten Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Center (BP3MI Banten) and the Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Agency.
"We responded quickly to a viral video complaint containing a request for help from a PMI from Serang City, Mrs. Atilah, who is stranded and unable to return from Saudi Arabia," Andra Soni said in Serang on Thursday, July 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
"BP3MI and the Banten Provincial Administration immediately coordinated with the Indonesian Embassy so that the issue faced by Mrs. Atilah could be handled right away. This is our shared concern because a Banten resident is facing difficulties abroad," he added.
Provincial authorities established direct contact with Atilah via instant messaging to verify her well-being while collaborating with central government agencies and Indonesian diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia to secure her repatriating strategy.
Echoing the governor's direction, Head of BP3MI Banten Wirawan Negara Harahap confirmed that field officers have been dispatched to visit Atilah’s family in Walantaka Subdistrict, Serang City, while tracking her exact location.
"We will continue to escort this process and report every update to the Governor," Wirawan said.
Initial reports indicate that Atilah is located near the border zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. BP3MI is verifying her exact coordinates before submitting formal documentation to the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) and the Ministry of Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection for field operations. ***
