Three Foreigners Deported For Unproven Espionage In The Border Area

KBRN, Nunukan: Three foreigners detained in the Sebatik region some time ago were the subject of an investigation whose findings revealed no evidence of their involvement in espionage. As a result, they returned to their country, Malaysia. Lukie Reza Kusumah, the Head of the Immigration Technology and Communications Nunukan Section, said that after a joint examination with the relevant agencies, they were not proven to have carried out espionage acts as previously circulated. The three were deported through Tunon Taka Nunukan Port using a speed boat bound to Tawau.

“After investigations by several authorities, these three foreigners could not prove the criminal activity of espionage and are beginning criminal activity by foreigners. That is why we are taking deportation and immigration action today because we suspect that there is no evidence of a violation of the residence permit," he stated. Saturday (13/8/2022).

Previously they were secured by the Ambalat XXVIII Sebatik Marine Task Force when entering a vital object area circulating in the Navy. They claimed to enter Indonesian territory to see the bridge construction project between Tawau and Sebatik.

"That's why we immediately take immigration administrative action in the form of deportation with deterrence," he said.

After a case degree with the Directorate General of Immigration, the Nunukan District Prosecutor, and the Nunukan District Court, BJ, HJK, and LBS were subject to Immigration administrative action in the form of deportation with deterrence by Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. (Vylandra Violetta Rachmaniar)
